The increased risk of stroke and heart attack is the most common adverse event in men taking sildenafil, but men taking other medicines and those who take nitrates and those who take other drugs that have side effects such as alpha-blockers, antifungals, antidepressants, HIV medicines, or antibiotics also have a higher risk of these events.
The warning has been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and thyroid cancer.
The increase in risk has been linked to an increased incidence of bladder cancer.
Other adverse events that occurred in men who took sildenafil included increased blood pressure, headache, abnormal vision, blurred vision, an irregular heartbeat, and nausea.
The FDA said that the increased risk of heart attack, stroke and dementia has been reported in patients who took sildenafil and have had a heart attack, stroke, dementia or other heart conditions.
A new warning about heart and blood pressure, which was issued in 2011, is still being studied. The FDA said that the increased risk of heart attack and stroke in men who took sildenafil and have had a heart attack, stroke, dementia or other heart conditions should be treated in accordance with current guidelines.
